Three things EVERY leader MUST HAVE before March 4th

In less than 24 hours, the 2023-24 Gender Pay Gap data will be released by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

I for one am waiting to see the results... and hopeful we have made some progress.

But hope won’t cut it. Action will.

And as a C-Suite Leader or Board Member, you have tremendous agency in how you respond.

Having been in your shoes, my hunch is you already have a plan for tomorrow. But if you don’t, here are three things to tick off your checklist before March 4th:

1️⃣ Get Ready for Your Team.

  • How will you share tomorrow’s data with them?

  • Your team has the biggest impact on your business—engagement and trust will be critical when the data is released.

  • Whether your company is making progress or not, your team will have questions. Be transparent, clear, and open about what’s next.

2️⃣ Get Ready for Your Board.

  • You’re legally required to share the Executive Summary & Industry Benchmark report with your board.

  • This is more than a compliance requirement—expect your board to challenge you on the numbers and demand a clear plan of action.

  • Don’t wait for them to ask—own the conversation and present how your company will respond.

3️⃣ Get Ready for the Media.

  • Depending on your results—whether you’ve made progress, stayed flat, or gone backwards—expect scrutiny from employees, investors, and the media.

  • If 2025 is anything like last year, companies will be analysed, compared, and called out for not doing enough.

  • Definitely have a proactive or reactive communications plan in place.

If your company has made progress, highlight it authentically. If there’s still work to do, own the gap and communicate what’s next.

📢 Leaders Who Are Prepared Will Lead the Conversation.

I have been in your shoes. It’s much better to wake up on Tuesday feeling prepared than to be caught by surprise. Good luck for tomorrow!
