My younger daughter and I along with some of her school family friends are spending a few days in the Victorian Alps this week and all throughout our stay I kept being reminded of “Nana korobi ya oki”, a beautiful Japanese proverb which literally translates into, fall down seven times and get up eight.

Even though we had skiing lessons we fell many times, and every time we picked ourselves up and gave it another shot and so did everyone else around us. Yet, when it comes to challenges we face at work or in life we often give up easily.

What if we took a more playful approach to it, tried things out, experimented, didn’t take ourselves too seriously and also had the resolve to keep going, would that make it easier to get up after falling?

What are your thoughts?
